The Journey of our Living Room

A lot has been done to our living room since moving in! Here are a few pics to show you what it looked like when we decided to move in.
Really outdated!!
We moved some of our stuff in, and began taking wallpaper off....which was a very bad idea! The plaster was coming off in chunks..There were layers and layers of wallpaper, and we couldn't get it all off
We had to putty and sand a lot! It is still really bumpy now, but we don't mind. We are just renting and are not going to live here forever! (There is Hazel as a kitten!! We miss her!)
Then we primed and painted everything.
 Picked our wall colour.
Put up a fake Mantel. (Do you love that carpet or what?)
And finally got new carpet!! Much, much better.
A few weeks ago, we got rid of our 2 couches and replaced it with mom and dad's couch they gave us. We took the wicker chairs from the corner by the mantel and from the kitchen and put them where the other couch used to be...and now it looks like this.

We love it!
See the wall is still pretty bumpy? Also these are the shelves I told you about...remember my inspiration photos?

I have big plans for this corner too. I am not really in love with this corner!!
And thats it! It has been years of small changes, when we had the money...but we are very happy with how it looks now!!

The Other New Addition.....

Since we had to put Hazel down in February Harrison has been really lonely! We have checked out the SPCA every few weeks, looking for the perfect fit for our family. We found him yesterday! He was so affectionate and was purring like crazy so we decided he was the one we were going to bring home!

Harrison was very cautious and curious from the start..
Meet the new little guy. He is 5 months old, and still without a name! hah
Harrison has not done too well with him. Hissing and growling...Hopefully they can become friends. Where ever the new kitty is, Harrison is watching from a distance!
The kitty is very playful...which will be good for Harrison. Harrison is only 8 months, so he is still very playful!
He just loves to sit with us on the couch
He had a long day yesterday, and was very tired from exploring the big house.
I think he is going to fit in perfectly!! And hopefully he and Harrison will become friends!! I will let you know when we decide on a name!

Cute shoes

Hey guys! It has been 18 days since my last post! I think that is the longest I have gone! I have been super busy picking up shifts at my second job, having trouble with the car, hanging out with Mike and enjoying the sunshine! I have been busy! And haven't crafted anything either, until tonight.

I bought these adorable shoes at at thrift store..they looked brand new.
I love wedges because I can walk in them! I also love everything floral. I fell in love with them right away. I have had them for over a year...and haven't worn them! I have nothing to go with the pattern on the shoe. All of my skirts and dresses have patterns on them. (I like big bold pattern!) So, I decided to paint them. I didn't want to at first because I loved the pattern so much, but decided to do it, so I can actually wear them! They turned out great!!
I just used regular fabric paint and used a paint brush. It took 5 minutes, and looks great! I will definitely wear them more often now!

I have 3 more work days and I am off for the summer. I am sooo excited! You should see my summer to-do list! It is huge. I will definitely be posting more often! I have a lot to do in the living room right now. We got rid of our 2 couches and switched it with my parents old one. You will see soon enough!

I will post soon, I promise!!

The Weekend

It was another great weekend! Saturday K, T and I went out thrifting, to some garage sales and out to lunch. I didn't end up coming back with much....
I grabbed this table, a pack of bells, a magazine and a pack of large alphabet stencils. Do you think I should paint the table? Or leave it?!
Today we went to go see Bruce, and hit up good old Value Village. All I got was this planter with a cute bird on it
and a slip I am going to alter into a skirt!
We also went to the mall and went to Chapters. I bought myself a big treat....
So excited to sit down and read it!! All the books previously on sale, were 50% off so I grabbed these 4
For $2.50 each! (to add to my pottery barn book collection!)
It was a fun weekend! Thanks Tor and Kay! xoxoxo

Frames!

Well, I feel like changing something in the house................ hahahahhah I don't even tell Mike anymore when I am going to change something..I just do it! I avoid the eye rolling, and questions. Is that bad?
Anyway I want to change the wall above the mantle.

Here is the mantle now
I want a group of frames above the mantle in someway.
My inspiration:
 country living
new york social diary (I googled and found this..)
I played around with the good old PAINT program....(I dont know how to photoshop or anything haha)
p.s they are really bad, I was just going for a general idea....
 we have some gold frames.
 square frames
And a ton of little ones...which one do you like?
I think I'm liking the 2nd and 3rd pictures. Tomorrow is a PD day!! so I think I am going to cut some "frames" out of paper and tape them to the wall to see what I like!
